Colorado Open Champion Daly Through to Semi-Final

Current and inaugural Colorado Open Champion Dave Daly of Seattle, punched his ticket to Championship Sunday. He will now face current Seattle Open Champion Andy McCloskey in the semi-finals, who will be on a mission to defend his title. This will be an all-Ireland affair and should be a great battle given how the pair played in their respective quarter-final matches.

Dave Daly, having lost the opening frame to John Poon on Saturday afternoon, equalised in the second to make it one frame a piece. John went on to win the third frame with a convincing score of seventy two to ten, and within only one frame to win it. Things were looking bleak for Daly. Dave potted a fantastic pink in the next frame to clinch it and with honours-even going into the decider, gave himself a chance. With the decider under way, Daly had a slight opening with a red down the left side of the table but needed a rest. He proceeds to set the standard of the frame with a break of 40. He finally got his shot to seal the deal, after a heroic battle with Poon, with a nine point lead and only needing the pink. Again, pots another long pink to book his semi-final match.

McCloskey had a much earlier night with a three nil victory over Ethan Huang. He’s been the man in form this tournament, with breaks already of ninety two, seventy one and sixty eight, Daly is going to have to be at his best. You can tune in for that match tomorrow via the OX Billiards stream here.

Happy Potting…
